Getting Started in Digital Preservation

A few weeks ago, William Kilbride invited me to attend the Digital Preservation Coalition’s Getting Started in Preservation event held yesterday (28th February 2011) in Glasgow to present a case study of the UK LOCKSS Alliance as a tool used for institutional digital preservation. It was excellent to see a large attendance from such a cross sector background!

Presentations can be found on the DPC event page, and I’ve uploaded a slideshare of my presentation. ┬áIt’s not easy to cover all aspects of both the LOCKSS technology and the UK LOCKSS Alliance organisation in twenty minutes, so feel free to send me any follow up queries or questions.

I was impressed with the overall content of the day and would recommend it to any newcomer, and if time permits would like to run an event similar to yesterday’s under the UK LOCKSS Alliance banner, focused on the library context.
